Problems of modern oncology were discussed in KSMU at All Russian level

On April 7th-8th, 2016 in Kursk there took place the Interregional Research and Practice conference “Achievements and perspectives of modern oncology”, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the oncological service of the region and to the 20th anniversary of the Department of Oncology of KSMU. The conference was visited by more than 300 participants, 60 of which were guests from 12 regions of Russia including delegations from the Russian Oncological Research Center named after N.N. Blokhin and Moscow Research Institute named after P.A. Gertsen.


Rector of KSMU, Honored physician of Russia, professor V.A. Lazarenko, the main oncologist of the Central Federal District, deputy director of Moscow Scientific and Research Oncological Institute named after P.A. Gertsen, professor  V.V. Starinsky, chairman of Kursk City Duma T.E. Voronina, the administration chief of organization and development of medical care of the committee of public health of the administration of Kursk region A.V. Konovalov, the main oncologist of Kursk Region, the main doctor of the Regional Budget Establishment of Public Health “Kursk Region Clinical Oncological Dispensary”, assistant professor of the Department of Oncology I.L. Kiselyov greeted the guests. The oncologists shared their experiences, discussed new tendencies, made reports.

The guests emphasized the high level of oncological service development in Kursk region and noticed that the most modern methods of diagnostics which exist in the country and in the world on the whole, are applied nowadays in Kursk. The oncologists try to normalize the situation in the region by indicating the disease at its early stage. There were observed the first positive indicators of the oncology service work in the region. The index of the annual mortality in the region for the last 3 years has fallen by 20 per cent.
