As part of the state policy of the latest time there is reinforced attention to the issues of training of ethnocultural tolerance, formation of readiness for dialogue and cooperation with representatives of various ethnic groups.
In advance of celebration of the City Day on the 24th of September, 2016 in Kursk state Philharmonic Hall took place X International Folk Festival “Samotsvety”.
In the festival, which is held since 2007, took part folk and dance companies, instrumental groups, leading singers, folk singers not only professional, but also amateur groups from different cities of Russia, Belorussia and Donetsk.
The festival “Samotsvety” is held with the aim of preservation and popularization of folk art, learning of other nation’s traditions, discovering of original national groups and strengthening of creative contacts between regions.
Annually students of the international faculty of Kursk state medical university take part in the festival.
This year the university was represented by the dancing group of students from Sri-Lanka with their national dance. The leader of the group Weerasinghe Arachchige Shalitha M Weerasinghe was awarded with the diploma of the participant of the festival.
The atmosphere of the festival was awash with special warmth and attention to each participant of the festival.
Carrying out of such events is directed to consolidation of tolerance and prophylaxis of extremism in the youth sphere, assistance to national-cultural cooperation and support of interreligious peace and harmony.
