Conferment to the Rectorate Advisor Chahine M.T. of the Title of the Honorary Consul of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Kursk

On the 14th of February, 2017 the delegation of the Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri-Lanka in the Russian Federation headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, His Excellency Dr. Saman Weerasinghe visited the Kursk State Medical University. At the university assembly hall the Embassy held an official ceremony of the conferment to the Rectorate Advisor Chahine M.T. of the title of the Honorary Consul of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Kursk with the handing of the relevant documents of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Russia and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.

The representatives of the Russian Party present at the official ceremony were: Rector of KSMU, Honored Physician of the Russian Federation, Deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma, Honorary Professor of the International University Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Honorary Doctor of Science of the university college GEOMATIKA (Malaysia), Honorary Professor of the university МАТН (Lebanon), Professor V.A. Lazarenko; Deputy Chairman of the Kursk Regional Duma, Secretary of the regional office of the all-Russian political party “United Russia” V.B. Ivanov; Chairman of the Committee of the Kursk Region Administration on external relations development  V.N. Grebennikov; Chairman of the Committee of Public Health of the Kursk region  O.V. Novikova; First Deputy Chairman of the Education and Science Committee of the Kursk region  L.V. Karachevtseva and other public officials.

As a result of the meeting of the Delegation of the Embassy with the Chairman of the Committee of the Kursk Region Administration on external relations development V.N. Grebennikov and Rector of KSMU Professor V.A. Lazarenko there was scheduled a package of measures on enhancement of the efficiency of the bilateral cooperation between Sri Lanka and Kursk region, which includes increasing the number of Sri Lankan students, opening of the Trade mission, Tea-house and permanent exhibition of Sri Lankan goods in Kursk.

The conferment to the Rectorate Advisor Chahine M.T. of the title of the Honorary Consul of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Kursk is a significant point in the history of bilateral diplomatic relations between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Russian Federation!
