XV SPORTS GAMES FOR MALAYSIAN STUDENTS, STUDYING IN RUSSIAN UNIVERSITIES

On the 19-21 April, 2019 the jubilee XV sports games for Malaysian students, studying in Russian universities, took place in KSMU. This event was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Kursk state medical university.

The sports games for Malaysian students have been held since 2004 at the initiative of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia in the Russian Federation and under the patronage of Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia.

250 Malaysian students of 5 teams from Russian universities        were contesting the victory: Kursk state medical university, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) and Privolzhskiy Research Medical University.

Along with the well-known kinds of sports as volleyball, handball, badminton, ping-pong, basketball, netball, chess, frisbie the audience had an opportunity to get acquainted with such an exotic sport as sepak takraw, which is common for the countries of Southeast Asia.

The universities had trained and sent to Kursk very strong teams, both men’s and women’s teams participated in the competitions.

The struggle was very sharp and tensed, sometimes even rough. But despite this fact, the players were showing respect, helping and supporting each other if necessary.

Following the results of the competitions first place was taken by the team of Kursk state medical university, having won 9 golden, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals; second place was taken by the team from I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University; the students of Privolzhskiy Research Medical University won third place.

During the solemn concluding ceremony the rector of Kursk state medical university, the honored physician of the Russian Federation, the deputy of Kursk regional Duma, honorary citizen of Kursk, Dr. habil. of Medicine, professor Victor Anatolevich Lazarenko rewarded the winners with medals and goblets and thanked the rectors of the participating universities for the active involvement in the event.

XV sports games for Malaysian students, studying in Russian universities give the Malaysian students from different universities, cities and towns of Russia a great opportunity to communicate with each other.
