2nd April 2021

As part of an additional general developmental program in the Russian language with elements of socio-cultural adaptation, foreign students of 1MB group of the International Medical Institute took part in a virtual tour to the Kunstkamera Museum. This museum, being the oldest and richest in the country, allows you to touch the history of Russia, the history of Russian science, get acquainted with its origins in the person of M.V. Lomonosov. It was the exposition dedicated to this outstanding scientist of the 18th century that was the main purpose of visiting the museum, but the students did not ignore the other halls. IMI teacher O.S. Strelkova conducted preliminary work with students: the biography of M.V. Lomonosov, his contribution to science, facts from the history of Russia that are important for understanding were considered in the Russian language classes. A monologue statement on the topic “Biography of an Interesting Person” is included in the course of an additional general developmental program in the Russian language with elements of socio-cultural adaptation, so a visit to the Kunstkamera became a logical addition to the main material on the subject.

The students in their reviews admitted that in the future they would like to visit this museum personally and see all the exhibits in reality. However, the virtual tour also became an exciting and pleasant experience of interaction with Russia for them. It is safe to say that such events develop interest in the country in which they will study in the future, increase motivation in learning Russian and allow to diversify distance learning.

«We have a tour to museum Kunst Сamera at online. There are collections of cultural relics from different cultures all over the world. Such as China, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, North and so on. This also includes Lomonosov’s personal collection. I think the most collection in this museum is clothing. Because different costumes represent different cultures, nations, and even time. Of course, I will focus on Lomonosov’s collection, because he is an outstanding and great person. What I admire most is his contribution in the field of science. So what impressed me most was the different instruments in the collection, such as vacuum piston pump, microscope, wooden globe, etc. Overall, this museum is very interesting, the world is big, but here we can see the histories and objects of different countries and cultures all over the world». «I like to go museum because I can know more about the tradition and the history of Russian. In this museum I can see the great conference hall in the 18th century. It was so beautiful. I also can see the personal belongings of M. V. Lomonosov that he used in his life. There is tools and scientific instrument that used in the researcher studies such as in physic, chemistry, geography and others. In panorama 7,I can see the model of M. V. Lomonosov chemistry lab. It was very sophisticated in that era». (Ainul Afiqah Binti Mohd Tarmizi, 1МB)

«The tour was great that I have been looking very deeply and I can see everything with my own eyes because the website is pretty good for foreigner to take a look of this museum. First of all I get to see the Great Conference Hall in the chamber of Imperial Academy of Sciences. It housed conference hall, Department of geography, art, archive, printing house and workshop. Alost all academic life M.V Lomonosov was here». (Muhammad Airil Aqasha Bin Azman, 1МB)

«My thoughts on the museum is that it was really well organized and really interesting. I could see all the artifacts clearly and can even read the information by just clicking on it. I really enjoyed going through all of the exhibits. The most i liked was M.V. Lomonosov’s room because I could see all of the old items and decorations that were used in the 18th century. I also learned how science were back in the days and thinking of how much science has improved thanks to scientists like M.V. Lomonosov». (Wajiha Balqeesh Binti Rozhan Zainol, 1МB)

«I had an interesting experience in the virtual museum tour. It was very fascinating to see the real picture of what it is inside the museum as for now I do not have the opportunity yet to go there. The website was very convenient as it provides English substiles in all places. Other than that, what’s more interesting is that the online tour also offers person speaking to every information that are stated in the tour. It was really convenient as I can choose either to read or to listen to people’s talking. In the tour, the places are divided into many part and in addition to each section, they were divided into more small division or known as panoramas». (Anis Shathirah Binti Mohd Aderi, 1МB)
