WORLD HEALTH DAY
7th April 2021
Health Day is celebrated all over the world on April 7. This year has been declared the Year of the Medical and Social Worker by the World Health Organization in order to draw public attention to the dedicated work of doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to WHO, human health is 50% determined by lifestyle, 20% by the environment, and 10% depends on the quality of the health system.
Such common symptoms as high blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and excess weight lead to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, which, in turn, cause more than 70% of all deaths in the world. Prevention of these pathologies largely depends on the people themselves: on their physical activity, timely access to medical care, the regularity of preventive examinations and compliance with the recommendations of doctors.
KSMU as a medical university is engaged in promoting a healthy lifestyle, and employees and students show by personal example that it is necessary to strive to be healthy and strong. Now the university has 6 gyms, 2 gyms in dormitories. In 2020, the university built a large outdoor area-a transformer for mini-football, basketball, volleyball, track and field athletics, and various martial arts. Currently, the university has 21 sports and 3 wellness sections. Every year, the number of students passing the TRP standards increases. Students participate in the Sports Contest of the regional branch of the Russian Student Sports Union of Higher Education Institutions of the Kursk Region in 20 sports, as well as in many other city, regional, interregional and all-Russian competitions.
