World AIDS Day is celebrated annually on December 1. People around the world come together to show support for people living with HIV and remember those who died of AIDS-related illnesses.
More than 900 thousand people in Russia are living with HIV infection.
World AIDS Day has a theme each year. This year the theme was: eliminate inequality; end AIDS; stop pandemics. They complement the growing list of challenges posed by World AIDS Day globally.
Every year, medical students of the STOP-AIDS volunteer team of Kursk State Medical University hold an action dedicated to World AIDS Day. The purpose of which is to draw the attention of young people to the problem of the value of human life, raise the level of awareness of young people on HIV / AIDS issues, form a tolerant attitude in society towards people living with HIV-positive status, convey to everyone correct and complete information about this disease, help protect yourself and your loved ones. The red ribbon is the symbol of the fight against AIDS.
Medical students of the STOP-AIDS volunteer squad held a number of events, among which the already traditional “Red Ribbon” campaign, during which they distributed red ribbons and information materials to the participants of the events.
The “Red Ribbon” promotion will last until December 3.
