II SCIENTIFIC AND THEORETICAL ONLINE CONFERENCE “TEA IN HISTORICAL, CULTURAL AND MEDICAL ASPECTS”

On December 15, on International Tea Day, the II scientific and theoretical online conference with international participation “Tea in Historical, Cultural and Medical Aspects” was held.

The event was conducted using remote technologies on the Zoom platform in parallel sections in the following areas:

  • Section 1. Pharmacological effects of tea and peculiarities of drug compatibility (site 1,2);
  • Section 2. Biochemical and therapeutic properties of tea;
  • Section 3. Tea in historical and cultural aspects.

People from many different countries of the world participated in the conference: the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Singapore, the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Republic of South Africa, Malaysia, the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the Republic of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. The Russian Federation was represented by the participants from Moscow, Kursk, Kazan, Sochi, Voronezh, Simferopol, Astrakhan, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Orel, Belgorod, Perm, Stary Oskol, Lgov. Total number of participants was 230, including 69 speakers, 161 listeners, 80 articles were presented.

Welcoming words were addressed to the participants of the conference by:

Gavrilyuk Vasily Petrovich – Vice-Rector for Educational Activity and General Affairs, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatrics of the Institute of Continuing Education, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor (FSBEI HE KSMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia);

Chahine Mohamad Toufic – Director of the International Medical Institute, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor (FSBEI HE KSMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia);

Voskanyan Sirush Karlenovna – Associate Professor of the Department of Regional Studies, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor (FSBEI HE “Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov”);

Novikova Irina Valerievna – Deputy President of the Association of Krasnodar Tea Producers, Head of the PR and Marketing Service of the Matsestinskaya Tea Factory (Sochi);

Berezhnova Tatiana Alexandrovna – Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor (FSBEI HE “Voronezh State Medical University named after N.N. Burdenko” of the Ministry of Health of Russia);

Romanov Sergey Sergeevich – Associate Professor of the Department of Literature, Candidate of Philological Sciences (Kursk State University; Kursk, Russia); Chief Researcher of the Kursk Literary Museum (branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum);

Actors of the Literary Theater of the Kursk State Philharmonia “Tea drinking at the Chekhovs’ dacha in summer of 1892” performed a creative greeting to the participants of the conference.

The speakers highlighted the topical issues of the use of various types of tea in medical practice: its compatibility with drugs, the effect of tea on the activity of the human body, methods of use as an aid in therapeutic practice. Students of Harbin Medical University prepared interesting and informative video reports on the compatibility of tea with medicines. A lively discussion was caused by the report “Tea for Prevention of Oncological Diseases” by Kristina Yuryevna Gosteva, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Medicine (FSBEI HE KSMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia).

2nd year students of the specialty “Nursing Care” SBPEI Chelyabinsk Medical College Daurtsev Ivan, Zabolotnova Maria, Valeeva Angelina, presented a research paper “The Effect of Various Types of Tea on a Human Body”, in which they described the results of the study obtained when using various types of tea in maximum dosages. The students received exhaustive results of the study, which they shared at the conference.

Very emotional and bright was the speech of the youngest participant of the conference – Efremova Victoria Dmitrievna, a student of the 8th grade (MPGEI “Okhochevskaya Secondary School”; Kursk region, Shchigrovsky district).

The third section was the longest in time, as there were many people who wanted to share their interesting research on tea ceremonies of different nations of the world, the everyday culture of tea drinking in past centuries, the reflection of tea traditions in works of literature and on the canvases of artists. The speech of Irina Valerievna Novikova, devoted to the peculiarities of growing and producing tea in the subtropical zone of Russia, aroused great interest among the audience. It should be noted that the tea producers participated in the conference for the first time.
