RECTOR’S ADDRESS TO TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND STAFF MEMBERS!
3rd March 2022

Dear colleagues, teachers, students and staff members!

I am addressing you as a rector, a deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma, a doctor and a citizen of the Russian Federation.

The events of recent days leave no one indifferent. The President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin, in his address, outlined in detail the reasons that guided him in making this difficult but forced decision to conduct a special operation, the purpose of which is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.

Naturally, these events caused concern and alarmed all citizens, but we are all confident that the situation will soon return to normal.

Throughout history, universities have undergone various tests and consistently maintained high humanistic ideals. Therefore, we must go through this period with dignity, following the principles of high academic culture and ethics.

KSMU has always been famous for its atmosphere of brotherhood, mutual help, mutual assistance and unique corporate culture. And now, when assessing the events in Ukraine, I ask you to rely not on fake news and emotions but only on official sources of information. Furthermore, I ask you to refrain from hasty and reckless comments and actions that can complicate the atmosphere in society. In this uneasy time, we must be together with the country defending its national interests and our people.

The university’s task is the development of science, the training of highly qualified personnel for the Russian Federation and the countries of the world. I am responsible for this, and I am responsible for the future of our students. Therefore, I will continue to solve these problems, preserving and developing international communications and projects scientific infrastructure.

I want to inform you that there are no hostilities in the Kursk Region. All organizations and infrastructure facilities are functioning as usual.

Our university works in the usual format. Classes are conducted both in-person and using remote technologies, depending on the epidemiological situation in the Kursk region, fully implementing educational, scientific and educational pedagogic units.

Dear students, teachers and employees, I ask you to show patience and conscientiously fulfil your duties:  study, work, take care of loved ones and support those who need help.

I am sure that together we will overcome any difficulties!

Rector of KSMU, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor,

Deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma of the VII convocation, Honorary Citizen of Kursk V. A. Lazarenko
