Today, on April 7, dermatovenerologists celebrate their professional holiday. A dermatovenerologist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of skin and veneral diseases. A dermatovenerologist in the full sense of the word can be called a multifunctional practitioner. The range of problems with which patients turn to this specialist is very wide: from the usual age-related rashes on the face to sexually transmitted diseases.
Skin and venereal diseases belong to the oldest pathology of the human race and accompany all stages of its development, sometimes acquiring the character of peculiar epidemics. The first descriptions of various lesions of the skin and visible mucous membranes were given several millennia before our era in China, India, Egypt. At the same time, possible causes of these diseases were discussed, various methods of their treatment and prevention were proposed. Of course, Of course, this information from the point of view of modern scientific medicine was extremely primitive, but they played a necessary role in the formation of dermatovenerology as a scientific discipline. The development of dermatovenerology, as well as other sciences, has passed a long and thorny path through experiments, practical long-term observations, descriptions of various diseases, the possibilities of their classification, laboratory studies, the use of various pharmacological drugs and methods of their evaluation. Dermatology is a discipline with three thousand nosological units, that`s more than therapy can include. . Most skin diseases are incurable, bring suffering to patients. Currently, dermatovenerology continues to develop actively on the basis of preserving and multiplying the best traditions and achievements of world and Russian science. We believe that in the near future new effective methods of treatment of severe disabling skin diseases will be developed and put into practice.
