THE CONFERENCE “MEDICAL PSYCHOLOGY IN HEALTHCARE”

On May 26, 2022, the All-Russian Scientific and Practical online conference “Medical Psychology in Healthcare” was held at Kursk State Medical University at the premises of the Department of General and Clinical Psychology.
The conference brought together scientists, clinical psychologists and practical healthcare professionals. More than 200 people from the Moscow State Medical and Dental University named after A.I. Evdokimov, St. Petersburg State University, Orenburg State Medical University, Ryazan State Medical University named after Academician I.P. Pavlov, the Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. took part in its work. Pirogov, Ural State Medical University, Yaroslavl State Medical University, National Research University “Higher School of Economics”, Chuvash State Pedagogical University named after I.Ya. Yakovlev, Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, Central Research Institute of Tuberculosis of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Borisoglebsky Boarding School, Kursk State Medical University, Kursk Clinical Psychiatric Hospital named after the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon.
The Vice-rector for Educational Work, Social Development and Public Relations, Acting Head of the Department of Health Psychology and Neuropsychology, PhD, Associate Professor Alesya A. Kuznetsova addressed the participants of the conference with a welcoming speech, who noted the importance of discussing issues within the framework of the conference that contribute to a productive dialogue between medicine and psychology.
In the reports of the participants of the plenary session, special attention was paid to the issues of raising awareness of doctors in the field of clinical psychology, as well as the development of medical competence of clinical psychologists in order to integrate them into the healthcare system, the relevance of the formation of interdisciplinary teams that expand the competencies of medical and non-medical specialists.
During the conference, 37 scientific reports were heard and discussed, and a round table “Medical psychology in healthcare: problems, solutions, practices” was held. During the discussions, experts were able to share their personal experience in providing psychological assistance to the population during the COVID-19 pandemic, psychological support for patients with a general somatic profile. Issues related to the application of the international classification of functioning in psychological rehabilitation were also discussed. The speeches of the participants aroused active interest and lively discussions.
A more detailed discussion of topics devoted to the clinical and psychological support of family and childhood, as well as topical issues of psychological assistance in healthcare, took place at breakout sessions.
Specialists in the field of medical psychology, as well as students from Kursk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ryazan, Kazan, Yaroslavl, Yekaterinburg, Orenburg, Perm, Cheboksary and Tashkent had the opportunity to participate in master classes on working with families within the framework of integrative child psychotherapy, as well as on working with people with destructive-aggressive behavior, get acquainted with the features of providing psychotherapeutic care in a psychiatric clinic.
The conference, according to the feedback of the participants, has become a significant and relevant event for specialists in the field of medical psychology. The conference events have become a representative platform for discussing topical issues, the solution of which requires interprofessional interaction of doctors and medical psychologists.
