The 41st General Conference of UNESCO proclaimed 2022 the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development. For the Department of Pharmacology, 2022 became an anniversary year – the Department turned 85 years old. Over 85 years of the department’s existence, a huge number of doctors and scientific staff were trained, and a significant amount of scientific studies were carried out. The staff of the department takes part in international cooperation of Kursk State Medical University – the department is an active participant of the Russian-Chinese Association of Medical Universities, cooperates with the Pridnestrovian State University named after T.G. Shevchenko, medical universities of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and etc.
The anniversary of the Department was the core of the V International Scientific and Practical Conference “Pharmacology of Different Countries”, dedicated to the 88th anniversary of Kursk State Medical University, the 85th anniversary of the Department of Pharmacology and the 10th anniversary of the Institute of International Education of Harbin Medical University.
On October 18, 2022, a plenary session was held in the lecture hall No. 3 of KSMU. The Rector of Kursk State Medical University, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Professor, Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases of the Institute of Continuing Education V.A. Lazarenko, Vice-Rector for Research Work and Innovative Development, Professor, Professor of the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy named after A.D. Myasnikov Lipatov V.A., Director of the International Medical Institute, Associate Professor Chahine M.T., Head of the Institute of Pharmacology of Harbin Medical Institute Zhang Yong, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Organization with a Cycle of Infectious Diseases of Pridnestrovian State University named after T.G. Shevchenko Samko G.N., Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology of Bukhara State Medical Institute Musaeva D.M., Head of the Department of Pharmacology of Tashkent Medical Academy, Professor Allaeva M.D., Head of the Department of Pharmacology of Tashkent Pediatric Institute, Professor Aminov S.D., Director of the Research Institute of Experimental Medicine of KSMU Artyushkova E.B. addressed the audience with welcoming words. At the plenary session, 6 reports were heard in English, 3 of which were presented by speakers from Harbin and Beijing (China).
The conference program is extensive. The Conference was held on 18 and 19 October. During the event, a plenary session, 6 symposiums (2 symposiums were held in English), 2 master classes and a round table were held. The geography of the participants also does not call into question the scope of the international conference. Reports from China, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova, as well as from various cities of Russia were heard. A total of 100 presentations were made at the conference.
On October 19, 2022, 2 master classes were held at the Research Institute of Experimental Medicine. The master class “Electrophysiological Studies on Laboratory Animals Using the BioPak Hardware and Software Complex” was conducted by the director of the Research Institute of Experimental Medicine of KSMU, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Artyushkova E.B. The master class “Modern Methods for Determining the Antioxidant Activity of New Pharmacological Drugs” was conducted by a 6th year student of the 3rd group of the Faculty of Medicine Smakhtina A.M. (Scientific Supervisor – Head of the Department of Pharmacology Mal G.S., Assistant to the Department of Biological Chemistry Chulanova A.A.). Students were very happy to see live the real techniques used in the experimental practice.
The conference concluded with a round table on October 19, where four presentations were made and the results of the conference were summarized.
We would like to express our gratitude to the administration of KSMU for supporting such important events, because during the conference new perspectives were outlined in scientific work, international and interuniversity cooperation.
