SENATOR OF KURSK REGION VISITED KSMU

Today, a representative of the executive body of state power of the Kursk region in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly in the Russian Federation, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Alekseevich Rapota visited Kursk State Medical University.

The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the material and technical equipment of our university and discuss the problems and prospects for the development of medical education in the Russian Federation at the meeting with the rector of KSMU Professor Victor Anatolyevich Lazarenko and a team of employees.

– I’m very glad to visit your university – one of the oldest universities of the Russian Federation, with great merits, – Grigory Alekseevich noted. – The issues of training qualified modern healthcare professionals are always relevant.

The meeting discussed the issues of practical training of students and practical activity of teachers of clinical departments in modern conditions, need to create our own University clinics; solving problems of staff shortage of young scientific and pedagogical workers for universities, promising areas of attracting graduates to teaching and scientific work and targeted training of specialists for practical healthcare. In addition, the main causes of problems in the field of research and the “pain points” of introducting new medical devices into clinical practice were identified, due to a number of factors, including insufficient budget funding for research and development.

During the meeting they also discussed possible threats of reputational costs in connection with the international geopolitical situation and media coverage of the situation in the Russian Federation in foreign countries, which in turn reduces the motivation for admission to universities in the Russian Federation in general, and Kursk universities in particular due to the border location of the Kursk region.

They also touched upon the issues of safety and methods of teaching the subject “Fundamentals of Life Safety” to students.

In addition to the official part, the program of stay of Senator Grigory Alekseevich Rapot included a visit to the Museum of Rare Book and Anatomical Theatre of KSMU.
