The first meeting of the Working Group on Education, Science and Technology of Russia and Malaysia was held in Moscow. The participants discussed the formats of cooperation in the field of higher education, science, technology, as well as the mutual promotion of the study of Russian and Malay languages in the two countries.
The Malaysian delegation included Dato Dr. Megat Sany, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Russian Federation Dato Cheong Loon Lai, Nuraza Omar, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, and representatives of Malaysian universities. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Russian Federation Dato Cheong Loon Lai noted that today 620 Malaysian students are studying in Russia in medical and engineering specialties, of which 357 are studying at Kursk State Medical University.
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Airat Gatiyatov noted that the Ministry of Science and Education of Russia pays special attention to the issue of joint training of personnel, who will subsequently be involved in the development of economic and scientific-technical cooperation between the two countries. According to him, subsequent employment plays an important role in this issue. Kursk State Medical University was represented at the Working Group by the Director of the International Medical Institute, Chahine Mohamad Toufic, who made a proposal to create associated international laboratories that would contribute to the conduct of interdisciplinary scientific research between our university and Malaysian universities.
Within the framework of the meeting, Mohamad Toufic held meetings with the Dean of the School of Medical Sciences of the University of Science of Malaysia (USM) Abdul Razak Suleiman, during which the prospects for scientific cooperation and academic mobility of students and teachers were discussed. An agreement was reached on the exchange of draft agreements for further approval with the leadership of the universities.
