From June 1 to 3, 2024, a delegation from the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, led by the State Minister of Health of Sri Lanka, Dr. Arambepoła Seetha Kumari, visited Kursk State Medical University.
The delegation also included the Minister of Education at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation, Hewa Dewage Chamila Prasad Jayaratna, and the Former Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation (October 2021 – April 2024), Prof. Liyanage Janita Abeywickrama.
The Rector of KSMU, Professor V.A. Lazarenko, welcomed the distinguished guests and emphasized that KSMU has been cooperating fruitfully with the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for a long time and is now one of the leading academic centers in the world with a special status in Russia.
The packed program of the delegation’s stay included participation not only in the planned meeting of the Russian-Lankan University Association of Medical and Allied Sciences, but also in various cultural and educational events organized by KSMU.
During the visit, the parties held a substantive dialogue on the possible network interaction of our university with universities in Sri Lanka, discussed the mechanisms for organizing student internships, scientific and student exchange.
It is worth noting that this visit of the Sri Lankan delegation is not the first, and the honored guests with pleasure noted that KSMU is confidently developing in the educational and scientific aspect, implementing high-quality medical education, which is in such demand in Sri Lanka.
