APRIL 7 – WORLD HEALTH DAY
7th April 2022

The problem of health has been affecting the minds of mankind for many centuries. With every decade, human life duration increases due to the constant development, improvement of medicine and regular discoveries in this field. A few decades ago, people were dying from diseases that are now being successfully treated and do not cause panic and confusion. However, even today there are many gaps and unresolved problems in the field of medicine that require daily elaboration.
The constantly deteriorating environmental situation, unstable economy, lack of affordable medicine in many countries do not contribute to a high-quality and healthy life. the World Health Organization was established to solve these questions and it served for the development of scientific programs and research, the creation of standards and monitoring of their universal compliance, assessing the health situation and taking measures to improve it.
WHO cooperates with many countries and Governments in the implementation of national strategies and compliance with collective commitments, its experts advise the ministries of health of different States, promote the expansion of prevention, treatment and assistance opportunities in all areas of health.
The date of appearance of WHO is considered to be April 7, 1948, when the charter of the organization was signed. And since 1950, on the same date, it became the tradition to celebrate World Health Day, which annually raises issues that affect all of the humanity and directly affect our lives.
Free consultations of key specialists are held in medical institutions on this day. Here you can measure blood pressure, check blood sugar levels, get important information about how to prevent the appearance and development of many diseases, about the need for an annual medical examination in order to detect early health problems.
Every year, mobile medical centers receive an increasing response, where you can also listen to useful information, get examined, and get the necessary recommendations.
Every year, World Health Day is held under a certain slogan and has a clear theme.
WHO called constant physical activity the main and most important component of health. Lack of physical activity is one of the causes of many non—communicable diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease. This is the fourth leading cause of global mortality. Physical activity includes any kind of movement, be it walking, dancing, games, sports. It is not for nothing that they say: “movement is life.”
Food is also connected with this important point. After all, currently the percentage of obesity among people of both childhood and adulthood is extremely high, which also affects the quality of health. In relation to food WHO makes the following recommendations:
Maintain proper energy exchange and a healthy weight.
Switch from the consumption of saturated fats to unsaturated ones (fish, flax seeds, nuts, sesame and linseed oil, etc.).
Exclude trans fatty acids from the diet.
Increase the percentage of consumption of fruits and vegetables, legumes, nuts and whole grains.
Limit sugar and salt intake.
Compliance with WHO recommendations, regular medical examination, constant physical activity, rational, balanced diet and full sleep will enable each of us to live a long and healthy life.
