Museum
The History museum of KSMU was opened in 1975 and was originally called the Room of military and labor glory. In 1985 due to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the university, it was transformed into the museum of the history of the medical institute, and then of the university. With the support of the university administration, a big role in the creation of the museum was played by the head of the Department of Social Hygiene and Health Organization, Professor B.S. Monakhov, who led its work for 25 years. In 2005, the museum reconstructed, after which its interior and exposition acquired a modern look.
The museum is a bridge connecting the past of the university with its present and future. It will take quite a bit of time, and the current stage in the life of the university will become the property of its history, including that which will be reflected in the future exhibition of the museum.
The museum goes beyond its borders. In recent years, thanks to the great attention of the university administration to its history, and, consequently, to the museum business, the Museum of History of KSMU has acquired not only a new designer face, but also goes beyond its room. The main building of the university becomes the Museum space. The exposition created at the Department of Operative Surgery has become a kind of branch of the museum. Suffice to say the department has unique stained-glass windows on topographic anatomy, made in the studentship by the future academician O.K. Skobelkin. Educational museums of the Department of Normal and Pathological Anatomy, Biology, Histology, and Forensic Medicine include many exhibits imbued with the spirit of history.
On the ground floor in the library area there the Exhibition Gallery, in which a photo exposition is unveiled telling about the history of the main building, which began in the 19th century.
On the second floor, in its central part, there is a stele with the names of the university graduates who died during the years of the II World War while fulfilling their medical duty. On the right there is a portrait gallery of the university leaders, starting with its first director, V.I. Deshevoy. On the other side, a portrait gallery of Honorary Professors of KSMU recently appeared. This title was established in 2002. The first to be awarded this title was Professor A.D. Myasnikov and L.G. Prokopenko.
In 2011, the beginning of a new tradition was laid: graduates give reproductions of paintings by famous artists to their university. The canvases will not only create aesthetic comfort but will also remind about each graduation of specialists of the university faculties for a long time.
