CONGRATULATIONS OF PROFESSOR V.A. LAZARENKO, RECTOR OF KSMU, ON VICTORY DAY
8th May 2024

Dear colleagues, trainees, students and employees!
I congratulate you on the great holiday – VICTORY DAY!

There is hardly any holiday in the world as sacred for the people as Victory Day is for Russians. “A holiday with tears in its eyes” is the most accurate definition, because no joy over the victory over the most formidable enemy of mankind – fascism – can dry the tears of memory about the huge losses suffered by our people in that terrible war, about the great tragedy that touched every Soviet family.

The key battle of that war – the Battle of Kursk – took place on the Kursk land, which broke the back of the enemy armed with the latest technology and confident in its superiority. After the Kursk “Arc of Fire” the fascists, snapping back, only rolled back, not even trying to advance. From Kursk, Ponyrei, Belgorod, Orel and Kharkov lay a direct road to Berlin, to the bright and long-awaited Victory!

The memory of this war is sacred to us, but time passes, witnesses of terrible crimes of fascism and heroic feats of Soviet people on the front and in the rear pass away, and now neo-fascism raises its head in the West, and now again whole peoples are declared “inferior race”, and again bombs and missiles fly at them.

And again the Russian people rises to the struggle for peace and justice, because even Russian culture is suddenly banned in the “enlightened” Western countries.

We not only remember the exploits of medical workers, we recall the experience of our senior colleagues and study the principles of organizing medical care at the front. We train civilians to act in emergency situations. We actively introduce into practice new scientific developments that we have, we help the front, we educate our students in the spirit of patriotism and love for the Motherland – all as our grandfathers and great-grandfathers did.

Only in this way will we defeat the new enemy, who, in reality, is still the same fascist who dreamed of demolishing Moscow and Leningrad, of conquering or destroying Soviet people and of dominating the world.

They did not succeed then, and they will not succeed now! Because our cause is right. And the victory will be ours!
