For many years, the Kursk Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been holding an annual competition “Innovation and Invention of the Year”, where scientists from the region compete, presenting their scientific achievements. The competition is a significant event, as, based on its results, the best innovations and inventions of the year win, which in the future will benefit not only the region, but the country as a whole.
The President of Russia V.V. Putin announced 2021 to be the Year of Science and Technology, and this year, a representative of our university is among the winners. In the nomination “Innovative idea”, the project of KSMU “Method of Treatment of Critical Limb Ischemia in Patients with no Receptive Vascular Bed” won, which gives the last chance to save the lower limbs to patients who need only amputation. The author of the project is Anzhelika Yurievna Orlova, a cardiovascular surgeon, candidate of medical sciences, an employee of the Department of General Surgery of KSMU. The development has passed clinical trials on the basis of an emergency hospital and has shown its effectiveness in 80% of cases. On December 15, 2021, Governor Roman Vladimirovich Starovoit personally congratulated the winner and awarded her with a diploma from the Administration of the Kursk Region.
