On November 2-4, 2022, Minsk hosted the international dental forum, which included the 16th international specialized exhibition “Dentistry of Belarus” (BELARUSDENT) and the 8th Belarusian International Dental Congress. The event was attended by the Head of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, Associate Professor D.S. Tishkov.
About 40 participants from several countries presented their products. Equipment for dental offices, tools, materials, X-ray units and accessories, equipment for dental laboratories, dental care products and accessories, dental medicines, etc. were traditionally demonstrated. I would like to note the stand of ZAO Zavod Belmedinstrumenty with an assortment of more than 500 items of own production. Products of this manufacturer have been used by the Consultative and Diagnostic Polyclinic of KSMU for more than 2 years.
This year, within the framework of the program of the 8th Belarusian International Dental Congress, eight breakout sessions were held: “Clinical Recommendations for the Provision of Safe Dental Care”, “New Clinical Protocols for Dental Diseases”, “Round Table Meeting of the Main External Experts in Dentistry with Graduates and Young Specialists”, “Comprehensive Measures in Periodontics, Endodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry”, “Innovations in Orthopaedic Dentistry, Orthodontics and Gnathology”, “Student Science — Achievements and Prospects”, “Modern Aspects of Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Implantology”, “Current Issues of Pediatric Dentistry”, eight master classes.
Among the speakers on new scientific achievements and dental practices were specialists from Belarus, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Iran, Egypt, the Republic of Korea, China and other countries.
During the Forum it was possible to visit a number of sections:
- “Complex Periodontics, Endodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry”
- “Innovations in Orthopaedic Dentistry, Dental Implantology, Orthodontics and Gnathology”
The experts discussed the interpretation of complex clinical protocols for orthopaedic dentistry, peculiarities of the reception of a dental patient with emotional and personality disorders, clinical protocols in periodontics – from theory to practice.
Particular attention was paid to clinical aspects of the use of protocols for conservative dentistry and endodontics in the adult and pediatric population, clinical protocols for orthodontics, peculiarities of clinical protocols for surgical dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.
The workshops were devoted to the demonstration of the following methods:
- Application of 3D printers in dentistry.
- Planning and visualization of dental implantation using a surgical template. Overview of required equipment, materials and software.
- Peculiarities of navigation implantation planning, selection of necessary auxiliary components depending on anatomical conditions.
- Preparation for 3D printing and printing of surgical template, manufacturing process, processing, inspection/fitting, sterilization.
- Intraoral scanning in dental practice.
- Obtaining impressions (analog/digital), advantages and disadvantages and possibility of application.
- Intraoral scanners: scanning capabilities, features, preferred scanning strategies, limitations of use.
- Materials and methods for manufacturing temporary crowns: 3D printing, CAD/CAM. Demonstration of scanning on a jaw model.
The exhibitors demonstrated new innovative trends in dentistry.
The participation of specialists in such events is a great opportunity for dentists and leading manufacturers of medical products to communicate, exchange experiences and show their achievements.
