DIALOGUE ON EQUAL TERMS WITH THE WINNER OF THE 1ST SEASON OF THE CONTEST “YOUR TURN”
6th April 2022

Registration for the second season of the All-Russian student competition “Your Turn” continues!
Students of KSMU met online with Anastasia Shebanova, the winner of the 1st season of the contest “Your Move” in 2021, one of the founders of the courses on the basics of financial capability and investments “Investudy”, a 3rd–year student of the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” in the field of “Politics and Economics of the Middle East”.
The meeting was opened by the Vice-rector for Educational Work, Social Development and Public Relations Cand. Sc., Associate Professor Kuznetsova A.A., noting the importance of such a format of cooperation for students of our university who plan to participate in the second season of the contest “Your Turn”.
The contest “Your Move” is a large-scale project of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the presidential platform “Russia is a country of opportunities”. More than 560 thousand students of Russian universities took part in the 1st season of the competition, but only 200 people reached the final, among them were future economists, political scientists, psychologists, teachers, doctors, lawyers, programmers, engineers, linguists, and representatives of many other professions. “Your Turn” is not only about knowledge and skills. This competition enables young people to develop creative thinking, open up and be realized in those fields that they are really interested in, adapt to difficult conditions and work in a team. And without these qualities, as you know, it is almost impossible to achieve success.
– Once, in the middle school, I was thinking of becoming a doctor and even took part in the biology Olympiad held at your university. The history of my family is closely connected with the Kursk Medical University, I was born into a family – a dynasty of doctors in 4 generations, most of whom graduated from the Kursk Medical Institute. But despite this, and my mother’s persuasions to become a doctor, I insisted on my own and chose the path of a political scientist,” Anastasia Shebanova shared.
Being one of the 200 winners of the “Your Turn” contest, Anastasia was awarded 1 million rubles, which she will be able to spend on continuing her studies, launching a startup or improving housing conditions, as well as a trip to Russia within the framework of the “More than a Trip” program and participation in the special educational program “Senezh” and “Tavrida”.
The award in the amount of 2.5 million rubles was also received by 50 universities, whose students most actively participated in the competition. But not only the finalists, prize-winners and winners received awards, at each of the four stages of the competition, participants received prizes and pleasant bonuses.
“At the first stage, we passed tests that helped us determine our role in the team,” Anastasia said. All the guys had to take training courses, present projects created during the events, and, most importantly, declare themselves. For active participation in various competitions, points were awarded, the amount of which subsequently determined which of us would pass to the semifinals and finals. The organizers also evaluated the so-called overprofessional skills, for example, stress tolerance, the ability to work in a team and adapt to a changing environment.”
Before the final, we were split into teams of 8 people and divided into several faculties: Faculty of Travellng, Faculty of Career, Faculty of Special Opportunities, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Security, Faculty of Education. We met on the eve of the contest to undergo the team building necessary to create successful communication. The participants were to decide on the field — the faculty they were interested in— and together create their own university of the future, in a few minutes they had to invite people from as many different professional fields as possible to their team of 8 people. And since you had to work in a team with students you didn’t know before, teamwork became more complicated.” At the finals, Anastasia chose the Faculty of Travelling, and their team came up with a travel aggregator platform for students, taking into account their wishes and capabilities.
In conclusion, Alesya Anatolyevna Kuznetsova expressed gratitude to Anastasia for a constructive dialogue, wished her further victories and successes, and also thanked Tatiana Pavlovna Isaenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Dermatovenerology, for her help in organizing the meeting.
