Dear residents of Kursk! Today is the 90th birthday of our home – Kursk region, which is the small homeland for many healthcare workers in the region.
On June 13, 1934, the huge Central Black Earth region was divided into two: Kursk and Voronezh. At that time, our region had 60 districts with a population of about 5 million people. By population density, it was the first region in the USSR.
A little later, in 1935, the number of districts increased to 93, but since 1937, some districts of our region began to transfer to neighboring regions: to Oryol, Lipetsk and Belgorod regions, others were enlarged or, conversely, divided, and only in 1977 the structure of the region acquired its modern form.
Kursk region is one of the oldest Russian lands and today is one of the most dynamically developing Russian regions. It is gratifying that the Kursk State Medical University, which is only 1 year younger than the Kursk region, continues to play a significant role in gaining wide fame of the Nightingale Region in Russia and abroad, and has successfully provided and continues to provide highly qualified doctors and medical workers to all regions of Russia and 80 countries of the world.
I wholeheartedly congratulate you on this important anniversary – the 90th anniversary of the formation of the Kursk region, with wishes of peace, good health, happiness, well-being and new labor successes for the benefit of our Nightingale Region!
