INTERNATIONAL DAY OF STUDENT SPORTS AT KSMU

Agency of the United Nations on Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) declared September 20 International Student Sports Day (ISSD). For International Federation of the University Sports (FISU), this event is a natural step towards establishing a partnership project with UNESCO.

The main goal of the project is to increase the role of student sports at higher education institutions. In the Russian Federation, the International Day of Student Sports is celebrated under the authority of the Russian Student Sports Union (RSSU). Students of Kursk State Medical University from different countries of the world traditionally participate in the celebration of International Student Sports Day.

This year, a volleyball tournament was held, in which eight teams participated: 2 teams from Malaysia, 2 teams from India, 2 teams from Sri Lanka, 1 team from Brazil and 1 team from Russia. All teams were divided into two subgroups.

In the preliminary stage, the following semi-finalists were determined: Sri Lanka No.1 – Malaysia and India No.1 – India No.2.

The final game was won by the Sri Lankan national team No.1, second place went to the team of Malaysia, and the third place was won by students from Indian team No.1.
