KSMU BUILT TRANSFORMING SPORTS GROUNG

Kursk State Medical University put in service a new sports ground. KSMU has opened multifunctional sports ground in the territory of KSMU Pharmaceutical College. The opening was dedicated to the beginning of the new academic year.

Honored guests were Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the RF Professor M.D. Lamawansa, chairperson of Kursk Regional Duma N. Zherebilov, chairperson of Kursk Municipal Convocation A. Chertova, chief physician of Paediatric Regional Hospital, chairperson of standing committee for social policy, healthcare and culture of Kursk Regional Duma I. Zorya, chairperson of Kursk regional department public state sports association “Youth of Russia” V. Sbrodov.

Sri Lanka Ambassador and KSMU Rector V. Lazarenko cut symbolic red ribbon.

– We have 4 indoor gyms in the university. Today we have built huge outdoor sports ground for mini football, basketball, volleyball, track and field athletics, various marital arts. Now we have 20 sports and 5 health improving classes, – told rector of KSMU V. Lazarenko. – Every year the number of students who wish to pass Ready for Work and Defence norms increases. Students take part in the sports and athletic contest of regional department of Russian Student Sports Union of Kursk region universities as well as in many other municipal, regional, interregional and all-Russian competitions.

At the present time only medical students uses the sports ground but eventually it can be used for territorial competitions.

– I have always admired sports achievements of Russia, its victories in the most prestigious word competitions. All victories start from amateur sport. Future champions mature on such student sports grounds!-said Sri Lanka Ambassador M.D. Lamawansa.

N. Zherebilov mentioned the importance of building sports facilities, especially when Governor R. Starovoyt himself shows Kursk example of healthy lifestyle.

The festival was memorable. On the artificial lawn there were flags of the countries the representatives of which study at the university. Fanfare sounded. Sportsmen from the university showed their talents.

Rector of KSMU and Sri Lanka Ambassador started friendly match in mini football by symbolically hitting the ball. The new sports ground hosted combined teams of KSMU Russian and international students.
