The general meeting of the Council of Rectors of Medical and Pharmaceutical Higher Educational Institutions Association was held at Sechenov University of the Ministry of Health of Russia, where the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko named the key tasks of medical education, noting that the current foreign policy situation poses new challenges to the rectors of medical and pharmaceutical educational institutions:
– It is important to increase international relations and establish cooperation, invite foreign students and offer the best of them jobs in their degree field after graduation from the university.
Professor, member of the Council of Rectors of Medical and Pharmaceutical Universities Victor Lazarenko commented on how the work in this direction was carried out at KSMU:
– Kursk State Medical University occupies a leading position among the universities of our country in terms of the number of foreign students. Today, 2360 students from other countries study at KSMU, 22 of them are clinical residents. This academic year, 530 foreign citizens were enrolled at the university.
The geography of the above-mentioned contingent of students is represented by 46 countries of the world. By the way, 13% are from near countries, and 87% are from far abroad.
Foreign students are attracted by the high level of education, for which all conditions have been created: training is conducted on clinical bases, the Simulation Accreditation Center of KSMU received the federal status, Virtual (imitation) clinic was opened (such an institution for training future doctors is only available in Moscow, and now we also have one at Kursk Medical University). At the moment, the clinic allows to practice skills of acute medicine and emergency medical care. For example, emergency cardiology, when a virtual patient first enters the intensive care unit, where the necessary examinations are carried out, and then he/she enters the operating room, where he/she may undergo coronary angioplasty, balloon angioplasty and stenting if necessary. In the future, we plan to create a multidisciplinary virtual innovation clinic, where nosologies of both emergency and planned medical care will be presented. Also the center of emergency medical care with imitation of the ambulance car with all modern equipment will be created.
Representatives of the Embassies of foreign countries in Russia: India, Tanzania, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Brazil, etc. note that the level of education quality at KSMU is quite high.
The university was also visited by about 200 parents of students from different countries, representatives of recruiting companies and partner universities, who, in addition to the high quality of educational services, drew attention to the fact that all conditions for sports, comfortable living in the dormitory rooms and meals at the university canteen were created on the campus.
The issues of employment of foreign graduates are also solved at our university. After receiving education at KSMU, all of them are in demand in their homeland. There are many examples when foreign students, having received a diploma of KSMU, stay and work in Russia, including in our region. By the way, at present there are 4 candidates from among the foreign citizens who have expressed desire to work at KSMU.
