22nd March 2022

On Saturday, March 26, Kursk State Medical University, as in previous years, will take part in the largest environmental action on the planet “Earth Hour”, as  well as it did in previous years. It has already been joined by more than 1,500 students and teachers of the university. Among them also the rector of KSMU – Victor Anatolyevich Lazarenko.

The “Earth Hour” campaign is organized by the Wildlife Foundation. The first event was held in 2007. Its purpose is to draw attention to the uncontrolled use of our planet’s resources. The Wildlife Foundation calls for lights and appliances to be turned off for one hour as a sign of concern for the Earth’s future. “Earth Hour” came to Russia in 2009, and every year the number of its participants increases. The event is attended by more than two billion people around the world in 188 countries, the lighting of more than 18,000 architectural monuments goes out.

Kursk Medical University is an active participant in various environmental actions, and since 2022 – a member of the Association of “green” universities of Russia. On March 26, from 20:30 to 21:30, the lighting and illumination of the administrative buildings of the university and the courtyard will be turned off.
