“A KSMU GRADUATE AT THE LABOR MARKET: EMPLOYMENT PROBLEMS AND WAYS TO SOLVE THEM”
21st September 2021

On the 20th of September, 2021, a webinar “A KSMU graduate at the labor market: employment problems and ways to solve them” was held, which was conducted by a specialist of the KSMU graduate employment Center, psychologist Irina Igorevna Kosilova. Issues related to the peculiarities of employment of graduates of the Kursk State Medical University in the context of their specialties were discussed in live broadcasting. Irina Igorevna emphasized the fact that graduates of our university annually have high employment rates in their specialty. The emphasis was placed on the fact that the majority of KSMU graduates continue their studies at the next stage in educational institutions of the Russian Federation.

The speaker of the event introduced the students to the university’s system of promoting the employment of graduates and the areas of work of the KSMU Graduate Employment Center. Special attention was paid to the acquaintance of students with the information channels of the KSMU career service – the official website, the community in the VKontakte social network, the information stands of the university, where the personnel needs of medical institutions are broadcast. Irina Igorevna told about the existing formats of interaction between employers and students and residents of KSMU and invited them to actively participate in career-oriented events. Among all the available formats, the largest event is the annual “KSMU Job Fair”, which is traditionally held in April. The event allows the graduate to study the labor market in their specialty, choose a vacant position and conclude preliminary employment agreements with a recruiter.

During the discussion, the webinar participants discovered a new resource for interaction with employers using the Digital career environment “Faculty”. “Faculty” is not only vacancies for employers, but also online courses for professional self-improvement, internships, career events and other opportunities.

The students were most interested in questions related to employment during their studies at the university and the educational course “Effective employment”.

Elizaveta Gerasimova, a second-year student of the 3rd group of the Medical and Preventive Faculty, shared her impressions: “It was useful to learn that throughout the entire period of study, the specialists of the graduate employment center help students in creating and designing a portfolio that can be useful both inside the university (for example, when applying for PSAS) and outside – when applying for a job. I learned that during the training period there is an opportunity to maintain my electronic portfolio in my personal account on the KSMU website. We were also told that graduates are “not abandoned” even after graduation, but are interested in finding employment and, if necessary, help. The speaker explained everything very clearly and answered every question in detail.”

For students who for some reason could not attend the webinar, a recording of the broadcast is available, which is posted in the group in the VK: vk.com/ctvkgmu. In this group and on the website of the KSMU Graduate Employment Center, you can follow the announcements of the events held.

The next career webinar within the framework of the educational course “Effective employment” for KSMU students on the topic “Job search strategies” will be held on October 28, 2021, at 16:30.
