On May 13 and 14, 2021, Kursk State Medical University hosted the VI International Scientific and Methodological Online Conference “Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages and RFL: Traditions and Innovations” and the IV International Student Scientific and Practical Online Conference “The World Through the Eyes of Young. Student Readings” dedicated to the 86th anniversary of Kursk State Medical University.
The use of modern information technologies made it possible to unite more than 100 university teachers, scientists and representatives of state and public organizations from Russia, Belarus, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Greece and China. The conference was co-organized by our permanent partners: Belarusian State Medical University (Minsk), State Institute of the Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin (Moscow), Representative offices in Malaysia and Sri Lanka (Kuala Lumpur, Colombo)
The following participants addressed the audience with a welcoming word: Acting Vice-rector for Educational Activity and General Affairs, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor V.P. Gavrilyuk, Acting Vice-Rector for Research and Innovative Development, Doctor of Medicine, Professor V.A. Lipatov, as well as representatives of the leadership of universities and organizations, participating in the conferences.
During the VI International Scientific and Methodological Online Conference “Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages and RFL: Traditions and Innovations”, topical issues of the search, development and implementation of innovative educational technologies and approaches to teaching Russian and foreign languages, including distance learning format, were considered and discussed. The participants shared their ideas, proprietary technologies, experience and achievements in the field of linguistics and language teaching.
At the IV International Student Scientific and Practical Online Conference “The World Through the Eyes of Young. Student Readings”, issues related to the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning in a linguistic and non-linguistic environment, the peculiarities of student adaptation to the conditions of online learning, the role of communicative competence in the professional development of a future doctor, the interaction of languages and cultures in a multilingual world, traditions and customs of peoples of different countries were discussed. Russian and foreign students from the countries of near and far abroad presented their reports and took an active part in the discussions.
Such scientific events undoubtedly contribute to the exchange of professional experience, development of mechanisms for the use of new forms and methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, motivation of students to conduct linguistic research, strengthening and expansion of academic ties between universities and international cooperation in general.
The Department of the Russian Language and Culture of Speech plans to continue holding similar events that contribute to strengthening the image of our university, as well as creating a single academic, scientific and creative space, establishing close contacts between scientists and practitioners from all over the world.
