The holiday “Vesak” is one of the most important and sacred celebrations in Buddhist religion. A complete self-victory is the main idea of the holiday, because it’s not necessary to change the world around you, it’s better to start with yourself. And then life will play out in fresh colours of happiness and peace.
It has its own name in each country and includes unique traditions and ceremonies.
On this solemn day the foreign students of KSMU from Sri Lanka, Thailand and Brasil gathered together to pray and to meditate. They lighted paper lanterns in the shape of lotus bud, which have the definite, important meaning for this holiday, symbolizing the enlightenment, which Buddha brought to this world for everyone.
Thus, KSMU unites students of different nationalities and religions, being a place for interconfessional and intercultural exchange for them.
