On April 11-17, 2022, the final of the XXX All-Russian (Moscow) Student Surgical Olympiad named after Academician M.I. Perelman took place within the walls of the First Sechenov Moscow State Medical University.
The final of the Olympiad was traditionally held at the premises of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov, Moscow.
The team of Kursk State Medical University after winning the qualifying stage (semi-final) of the Central Federal District (held in February 2022 at KSMU, when 15 teams of universities of the Central Federal District participated in the selection) reached the final of the surgical Olympiad, in which 21 finalist teams participated – winners of regional stages from eight federal districts of the Russian Federation, selected from more than a hundred medical universities and medical faculties of higher educational institutions of Russia.
A competitive program consisting of 30 nominations was prepared for the finalists, which included theoretical and practical tasks covering all areas of surgical practice. For example: pediatric and adult cardiac surgery, kidney and liver transplantation, colorectal, thoracic, endovideosurgery, nerve and vascular microsurgery, ultrasound diagnostics in anesthesiology and intensive care, rhinoseptoplasty, traumatology operations, etc.
The professional level of the participants was evaluated by the jury members, including academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gauthier S.V. (Director of the NMIC of Transplantology and Artificial Organs named after V.I. Shumakov), Krylov V.V. (Director of the CMC of the Moscow State Medical University named after A.I. Evdokimov), Belov Yu.V. (director of the Institute of Cardio-Aortic Surgery named after B.V. Petrovsky), Stilidi I.S. (Director of the N.N. Blokhin National Research Center of Oncology), as well as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professors, associate professors and leading surgeons of Moscow and Russia.
Kursk State Medical University demonstrated a really high level of theoretical and practical training, taking the team 7th final place among the 21 finalists of the XXX Moscow International Student Surgical Olympiad named after Academician M.I. Perelman.
