On May 19, 2022, the Department of Propaedeutics of Dental Diseases of the RUDN Medical Institute hosted the VIII Interuniversity Student Olympiad in Materials Science and Propaedeutics of Dental Diseases and a Conference of professional student societies, which was attended by dental students from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ryazan, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod, Volgograd and other regions of Russia. The Olympiad was opened by the director of the RUDN Medical Institute, Professor Abramov Alexey Yurevich . He wished all the participants good luck, pleasant impressions and new acquaintances. The solemnity of the moment was emphasized by the anthem of the RUDN.
Kursk State Medical University was represented in the Olympiad by Nikita Yuryevich Brusentsov, a 2nd-year student of the 1st group of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Anastasia Andreevna Zueva, a 2nd-year student of the 1st group of the Faculty of Dentistry, in the conference with a scientific report.
The participants of the Olympiad had to cope with difficult tasks of the competition program in all sections of propaedeutic dentistry, meeting the time allotted for this. Among the mandatory manipulations were obtaining an impression from the upper jaw with a silicone impression mass, preparing a tooth for a metal-ceramic crown on a phantom, making a dental crown on a tooth, restoring a class 4 cavity with photopolymer composites, applying nodular single sutures on a phantom. Among the theoretical tasks was the solution of situational problems in surgical propaedeutics.
According to the results of the competition program of the Olympiad, our student Nikita Brusentsov took the 1st place! At the conference, our student also presented our university with dignity. The report of Anastasia Zueva “Morphology and composition of hard tissues of teeth of residents of the Kursk region” (scientific supervisors: Head of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, PhD, Associate Professor Tishkov D.S., assistant of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry Brusentsova A.E.) was recognized as the best among the participants of the Conference of professional student scientific societies.
At the closing ceremony of the Olympiad, the head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Dental Diseases of the MI RUDN Razumova Svetlana Nikolaevna thanked all the participants and invited them to take part in the traditional Olympiad next year.
