THE SCHOOL OF SURGERY CONTINUES!
22nd April 2024

The school of surgery continues its work! On 17 April 2024, a surgery day was held within the framework of the project. One of the key features of the School of Surgery is the transfer of experience and knowledge from senior surgeons to young specialists.

The day was filled with a variety of surgical procedures on the surgical animal. Everything began with tracheostomy and catheterisation of the central (subclavian) vein for connection of the ventilator and sedation of the laboratory animal by the students of the 6th and 5th courses of the medical faculty – Drozdova Tatiana and Kostyunin Ilya. Nikita Gneev, Nikita Pyanykh and Daria Grebennikova performed laparoscopic nervectomy on the left side. A team of gynaecologists represented by Ksenia Alfyorova, Tatiana Markina and Svetlana Kubareva performed 2 surgical interventions: open-access tubectomy and wedge resection of the ovary. Open cholicystectomy was performed by Chernysheva Yulia, Ivanilov Kirill and Steshenko Margarita. Trauma team – 5th year students Ivan Pereverzev and Ilya Chemisov performed Weber osteosynthesis of the ulna. Thoracoscopic pericardectomy, pneumonectomy and microsurgical Keyhole resection of the L5/S1 intervertebral disc with cage placement with transforaminal lumbar intercorporeal spondylodesis were also performed.

It is also necessary to note the work of the anaesthesia team represented by Dovzhik Ivan and Vanina Anna. These people monitor the vital signs of the animal and maintain its condition during surgical interventions with the help of medications: anaesthesia – propofol, myorelaxant – Arduan, painkillers – ketorol, dimedrol.
The School of Surgery is not only a place of training for future doctors, but also a place where experience and knowledge are preserved and passed on from generation to generation.
