VI INTERREGIONAL PRACTICAL OLYMPIAD ON EMERGENCY SKILLS “EXERCISES” AT KSMU
18th May 2021

For two days, May 15, 16, 35 teams of medical students from Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh competed in the ability to provide first medical and specialized aid. Kursk State Medical University has once again become a platform for the VI Interregional Practical Olympiad on Emergency Aid Skills “Exercises”.

The main part of the competition took place in the Multi-profile Accreditation and Simulation Center. In total, 10 contests were prepared for the participants – 4 for the younger group and 6 for the older one.

The Olympiad is of a practical nature and takes place in a simulated environment – at each stage, the clinical situation is simulated as reliably as possible. Actors or robotic simulators took on the role of patients, real medical equipment was used for diagnosis and treatment. Participants studied labs, X-rays, cardiograms of patients, communicated with “patients”). Depending on the competition, participants acted as eyewitnesses to emergencies, nurses, students in practice, doctors of emergency departments, emergency workers and rescue doctors. Competitions represented situations at the hospital stage, at the place of an ambulance call and in the emergency zone. The competition for the emergency zone always occupies a special place in the set of impressions of the participants – with the help of makeup, smoke, visual and sound effects, a dangerous zone is created, in which participants must not only help patients, but also find them, sort them out, evacuate and, along the way, do not get into traps that may lead to their conditional death.

According to the results of the competition, students from Belgorod won in the junior group, and the team from KSMU – in the senior group. Congratulations to the winners!
