On Tuesday, October 4, it was crowded in the Autonomous Social Institution of the Kursk region “Veteran”. Dressed out, with orders and medals, representatives of primary veteran organizations of Kursk came to the event dedicated to the Decade of the Elderly.
That day, representatives of the Unit of volunteer groups of KSMU, as well as volunteers of other universities, secondary specialized educational institutions and schools of our city prepared an entire program with gifts, concerts and an interactive lecture on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases for the heroes of the occasion.
Students of Medical Faculty and medical volunteers of KSMU: Tatyana Lukyanova (6th year), Ekaterina Popova (2nd year), Ekaterina Borodina (4th year) in addition to telling the event participants about heart diseases, also measured their blood pressure and saturation.
– The main thing is not just to remind our veterans once again that it is necessary to monitor the pressure and take the medications prescribed by the doctor on time, but in attention, in readiness to listen and talk, – Tatyana Lukyanova emphasized.
As noted by the girls, such actions are common for the Unit of volunteer groups of KSMU, where there are such projects as “Health of Veterans”, “Meeting of Generations: Care and Health” action and others.
Rosalia Bronislavovna Proskuryakova is a regular visitor to the events organized by ASI Veteran. She’s the mother of a soldier who died in Afghanistan. Rosalia Bronislavovna tells about her son Sergey to pupils of Kursk schools from time to time. The local media have written about him many times.
– Volunteers of KSMU are very intelligent and attentive: they measured my pressure, talked to me, gave me a small gift from the university, – Rosalia Bronislavovna shared. – And, after all, participation in similar projects is a type of a patriotic work too.
In addition to the interactive lecture, representatives of the KSMU Unit of volunteer groups will hold two more events for people of elegant age within the framework of the Decade of the Elderly: on Teachers’ Day, they are going to congratulate teachers of Kursk State Medical University and Medical and Pharmaceutical College of KSMU, who have dedicated their lives to teaching, and a meeting “With Care for Health” will be organized in the Bukreevsk psychoneurological asylum. At the event, it is planned to conduct primary medical diagnostics, as well as an art therapy class to stabilize and maintain the mental well-being of residents living on the territory of the asylum.
