MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF STATE OF SRI LANKA

On April 2, 2024 an online meeting was held.between Kursk State Medical University, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka

From KSMU participated: Rector Professor Victor Anatolievich Lazarenko, Vice-Rector for Educational Activities and General Affairs Associate Professor Vasily Petrovich Gavrilyuk, Director of the International Medical Institute Associate Professor Mohamad Toufik Shehine.

Sri Lanka was represented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Assistant Ambassador Olesya Romanova, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka: Minister of State Sita Arambepola, Secretary to the Minister Praboth Udugama.

The key topic of the meeting was discussion of the issue of establishing a branch of KSMU in Sri Lanka and implementation of the joint educational program.

Victor Anatolievich Lazarenko in his welcoming speech expressed words of gratitude for the confidence in the University.

Rector noted that at the moment 2000 international students from 42 countries of the world are studying in KSMU, two Sri Lankan citizens – graduates of KSMU are now scientific and pedagogical workers of the University and are engaged in research work, which makes an important contribution to joint cooperation.

Colleagues from Sri Lanka welcomed the participants of the meeting, noted that for Sri Lanka the discussion of the branch is an important step in the history of mutual relations between our countries and quite a large number of Lankan students were and are studying in KSMU and they trust the quality of education in KSMU.

Further, a video presentation about KSMU was shown for Sri Lankan representatives, which told about the educational campuses, anatomical theater, hostels, research universities, university clinic, practices in hospitals, library, practical classes, socio-cultural events and sports competitions.

The parties discussed possible formats of interaction in education of students in partnership of KSMU and Sri Lanka, clarified the procedure of opening of the branch and all subtleties of lecture and practical education for students.

In conclusion Victor Anatolievich invited Dr. Sita Arambepola and Mrs. Ambassador Janitha Liyanage to KSMU for visual demonstration of the University opportunities, communication with students and further discussion of the implementation of joint educational activities.
