CONGRATULATIONS OF THE RECTOR ON THE INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY!
5th December 2021

Dear colleagues, students!

With all my heart I would like to congratulate our student volunteers, teachers, university staff who organize, participate and develop the volunteer movement on the International Day of the Volunteer.

For more than 15 years, Kursk State Medical University has been promoting the development of the volunteer movement. To date, the university has 29 professionally oriented volunteer teams, which involve more than 1,600 students and over 100 schoolchildren from general education schools of Kursk. The first groups appeared at the university in 2005. Since 2016, a regional branch of the All-Russian Public Organization “Medical Volunteers” has been operating on the basis of KSMU.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the volunteers of Kursk State Medical University are making an invaluable contribution to the fight against the virus. Since the beginning of the first wave of coronavirus, the university volunteer headquarters has been manufacturing personal protective equipment, delivering subsidized medicines at the request of the municipal polyclinics, and basic-needs products to all those in need who contacted the hotline. Volunteers were also on duty at the hotline for providing psychological support to the population, participated in the All-Russian event “Cart of Kindness” and worked at polyclinics. Now our volunteers are actively helping medical personnel at polyclinics, vaccination points, call centers, and are engaged in car volunteering.

For the entire period of operation of the Headquarters – from March 2020 to December 2021 – the number of volunteers, members of the Headquarters amounted to about 1,500 students.

I want to express my deepest gratitude for your work! May your hearts always remain so sensitive, kind, and there will always be a place for compassion in your soul. Good health, optimism and energy to you!
